Summer Reading Program -
Read It and Green It!

Here is how it works:

1. Visit your local public library or book mobile and sign up for the SF Summer Reading Program.
2. Read anything! Read your books, library books, magazines and more. Read by yourself, read to your dog, ask your family to read to you. It all counts!
   
3. For every 15 minutes you read, color in a "15 minutes" space on both your SF Library log and on the Paul Revere log. Remember to also write down what you read on both logs and ask an adult to sign off as you go. Yes, all reading counts double!
   
4. Visit your local library weekly with your library log and enter to win raffle prizes. If you read 8 hours, you can win a grand prize.
5. When you come back to school, bring your Paul Revere log and definitely get prizes and lots more. If you read more than 8 hours you get an extra prize too.

Summer Reading Tips

• Read aloud with your family and talk about what you read.
• Turn off the TV and get out the books.
• Read anything and everything.
• Try books on tape from the library. Listen at home or in the car.
• Go to the library every week and see what's new.
• Ask for a magazine subscription for your birthday. Like animals? Ask for National Geographic World. Like sports? Ask for Sports Illustrated for Kids.
• Trade addresses and stay in touch with friends over the summer by sending notes to each other. Every body loves to get letters.
• Try reading everything you see next time you are out and about: traffic signs, billboards, store signs, and so forth.
• Get a blank notebook and tape in souvenirs like movie tickets and pictures. Write notes next to each one to help you remember all the fun things you did this summer.

    Would you like your child to continue to read during the summer vacation? Family Reading Club is for you!!!!
    Come to the first Family Reading Club planning meeting. At this meeting, we will be planning and discussing which books the children will be reading during the summer. Your suggestions are very important to make our Family Reading Club a success!!

Summer school will NOT take place at Paul Revere School this summer.

Summer School has been pre-assigned for 5th through 8th grade students who qualify based on State assessments. Students who are eligible will be mailed a summer school application along with a school of assignment. More information regarding summer school will be provided in the coming weeks.

Así es como funciona:

1. Visite su biblioteca pública local ó libros móviles e inscribase para el programa de lectura de verano.
2. Lea todo lo que pueda. Lea libros, revistas y más. Lea por su cuenta, leále a su perro, ó algun miembro de familia. Puede leerte. Todo cuenta!
3. Por cada 15 minutos que leas, colorea en el espacio de "15 minutos" en ambas tarjetas de reporte, la de SF y Paul Revere. Recuerda de escribir que leíste en ambos reportes, y preguntale a un adulto que firme conforme avances. Exacto, todos lo leído cuenta doble!
4. Visite su biblioteca semanalmente con su hoja de reporte y participe el sorteo de premios. Si tú lees 8 horas, puedes ganar un gran premio.
5. Cuando regreses a la escuela, trae tu hoja de reporte de Paul Revere y definitivamente grandes premios y mucho más. Si lees más de 8 horas puedes ganar un premio adicional.

Consejos de Lectura de Verano

• Lee en voz alta con tu familia y habla acerca de lo que leíste.
• Apaga la TV y saca tus libros.
• Lee lo que quieras y lo que puedas.
• Prueba libros en grabadora de la biblioteca. Escuchelo en la casa ó en el carro.
• Vaya a la biblioteca cada semana y vea que es lo nuevo.
• Pregunte por una suscripción de revistas por tu cumpleaños. ¿Te gustan los animales? Pregunte por el mundo nacional geográfico. ¿Te gustan los deportes? Pregunte por deportes ilustrados para niños.
• Intercambie direcciones y mantengase en contacto con amigos en el verano mandandose notas unos con otros. A todos nos encanta recibir cartas.
• Trata de leer todo lo que puedes la próxima vez que estes fuera: signo de tráfico, anuncios, y otras cosas.
• Consiga un cuaderno en blanco y pegue, recuerdos en él, ejemplo tickets de pelicula y fotos. Escriba notas para recordar todas las cosas divertidas que hicieron durante le verano.

La escuela de verano NO tomará lugar en la escuela Paul Revere este verano.

La escuela de Verano ha sido preasignada para los estudiantes de 5to a 8vo grado quienes calificaron basados en los exámenes del Estado. Los estudiantes que son elegibles recibirán correo una aplicación para la escuela de verano junto con una asignación de la escuela. Más información acerca de la escuela de verano será dada en las semanas que vienen.
