Attendees:

Minutes:

  1. Stacy Afflick reviewed the draft budget for the 2014-15 school year. We will be able to retain our current staffing and will also get an additional 0.5FTE parent liaison and 0.4 FTE counselor for restorative practices
  2. Working session to prioritize/ allocate remaining funding for next year:
    1. We reviewed the external contracts that we currently have in place that have been funded to a large extent by SIG roll over funds from the previous year. While we currently have a contract budget of $75K, we will only have a contract budget of ~$30K for next year, so we will have to make choices about how we want to spend the funding available to us
    2. We will also have $150 K of remaining QIAA funds available to us that we will be able to roll over to next year. No QIAA funding will be available for the year after next school year. QIAA roll over funds will not be available until September.
    3. Stacy is proposing to use the regular contract budget to fund lunch break sport/play support (scores or playworks) and have other contracts start in September
  3. Stacy has not finalized the BSC draft yet, we will need to review the draft, make edits as needed and approve the BSC and budget during the May SSC meeting, so this will be a very important and busy meeting for which we will need a quorum.
  4. SSC member election planning:
    1. Current SSC members:

    1. From the bylaws:
      1. The SSC will have at least these minimum number of members:
        • 1 Principal
        • 0 Other Administrator
        • 3 Classroom Teachers
        • 1 Other School Staff
        • 6 Parents or Community Members
      1. Members will be elected by their respective peer groups
      2. A minimum number of alternates will be voted into the SSC at a regular election:
        • 1.    Two alternates to represent classroom teachers.
        • One alternate to represent other staff.
        • Two alternates to represent parents and/or community.
        • Alternates will also be elected by their respective peer group
    1. We currently have enough alternate members to fill the member positions that will be open next year, so only alternate positions will be open for election, pending confirmation that the alternates will be willing to take the open member position (all alternates members present accepted the member position. Anna Monica Jackson will likely not want to keep her member position, Minke will confirm this.
    2. Election planning will start at the beginning of the next school year
